Yu-chen Li has long been dedicated to creating, through printmaking, a complete chorographic system of her own—one that exists between imagination and field research.
In her works, she selectively erases and removes man-made elements to the greatest extent, while preserving the intrinsic essence of maritime islands as much as possible. Through artistic means and a gradual process of engraving and printing, she reconstructs a chorographic record that is objectively grounded within her subjective perspective. By allowing objective landscape imagery to overflow, she creates reconstructed landscapes; then, through her subjective selection of visible scenic elements, she re-presents a vision that more faithfully approaches the original appearance of the landscape.
